How Referrals Work
-
Provide a brief description of the matter and the type of service being considered. No protected health information, sensitive personnel information, or case records should be submitted through the general website form.
-
After the initial inquiry, secure transmission instructions and a focused referral checklist are provided. The checklist identifies the specific referral question and the records needed for review.
-
Relevant records are reviewed in the context of the referral question. This paid initial review is used to determine whether the matter should conclude with consultation, proceed to a focused record-based opinion, or proceed to a full psychological evaluation.
-
After the initial review, findings are discussed with the referral source and the appropriate next step is identified. This may involve consultation only, a focused record-based opinion, or a full psychological evaluation. Scope and fees are confirmed in writing before additional work proceeds, and the initial review fee is credited toward a more comprehensive service when applicable.
-
When a formal opinion or evaluation is appropriate, the work is structured around the agreed referral question and scope. Relevant records, interview findings, psychological testing when indicated, and other available evidence are integrated into a focused, evidence-based written product. Findings and conclusions are independent and are not predetermined by the referral source or desired outcome. Work requested beyond the agreed scope is billed separately.
